The past few weeks we have found some really AWESOME Topwater
Schooling of Whites and Hybrid Stripers off the Hwy 309 Flats and
the Main Lake Areas between Ferguson Point and Fisherman's Point
Marina. The fish move around quite a bit so from day to day the area
may change, but you always seem to have some good action from around
Sunrise to Late morning.
The Key Factors in having a really good
School of Fish aggressively feeding are (1) Nice 10-12 MPH Breeze,
(2) Cloudcover and (3) A Falling Barometer. If you can get all three
of these factors in your favor, it's not unusual to stay on a School
of Topwater Feeding Fish all morning long. We stick with just a few
proven baits...Clear Tiny Torpedos, Humdingers and RSR Glitter Slabs
to catch our fish. These three baits will catch Topwater, Suspended
or Bottom Feeding Fish, and it sure makes decision making easier as
to which bait to reach for in your Tackle Box! :)
The Crappie are normally on a very good bite in late Summer and
early Fall. Standing Timber in the Creek Channels & Coves, & the
Bridge Pilings are great places to dunk a minnow. The water level
continues to drop so those places that were holding Crappie last
Summer will probably have changed. Zero in on the same areas, but
move out to the deeper water. We normally fish Timber in 20' plus
water, but may be catching our Crappie anywhere from 6' to 15' deep.
It's a trial and error thing, so just keep moving till you locate
the fish.
The last Holiday of the Summer is upon us, and then the Lake will be
almost deserted for quite some time! MY absolute FAVORITE TIME of
the entire year is almost here...FALL! The Weather Cools , the Fish
go on a Feeding Frenzy, and the few Fishermen on the Lake have it
all to themselves! Here's Hoping and Praying that we get the much
needed Rainfall to slow the descent of RC, and allow us to continue
Fishing the Best Kept Secret in Texas! Give us a call at
